FAQ

  • Parents can choose teachers based on availability and book flexibly with one or more teachers. You may try different teachers, but a second trial lesson is not available. If two teachers are involved, they can work together in the same Google Classroom and coordinate the course.
We do not recommend frequent teacher changes, but having two complementary teachers can work well for some children.

  • Children can learn:

    • individually, or

    • in a private group of two (siblings or friends), as long as the level and learning style match.

If you are unsure, book a trial lesson — the teacher will assess whether learning together is effective.

  • From experience, two children joining from separate devices or rooms (e.g. friends, siblings on different laptops) is often more effective due to a positive peer effect.
Some children distract each other when sharing one device — in that case we recommend:

    • separate rooms/devices, or

    • separate lessons.

This can be tested during or after the trial.

  • Children between 5 and 12 often need:

    • extra flexibility

    • high personalization

    • engaging, speaking-focused lessons

Teaching children online is a true skill. Not all teachers do this — and this is why kids lessons are priced differently.

  • We recommend starting with 30 minutes for younger children.
If concentration and enjoyment are high, you can upgrade to 60 minutes at any time.

  • Lessons are interactive, engaging and speaking-focused.
    Children may bring:

    • school homework

    • test preparation topics

    • vocabulary

    • or follow a CEFR-based German course

We adapt fully to what the child and parents need.

  • We specialise in supporting expat children adjusting to:

    • Swiss German-speaking schools

    • German school systems

    • Austrian schools

You can start immediately, depending on availability.

  • You can reschedule flexibly within your teacher’s calendar.

Lessons canceled less than 24 hours before the start count as completed—this protects the teacher’s time.

  • Please do not purchase regular adult lesson packages for children.
They are not valid for kids lessons and will be refunded.
Children’s lessons must be booked as:

    • single lessons (€25 / €50), or

    • private groups of 2 (€30 / €60)).

  • No. All lessons are pay-as-you-go. There are no contracts, hidden fees, or automatic renewals. Learn German in a flexible, self-paced way.

  • All lessons run live on Google Meet. Every student also receives a personal Google Classroom for materials, homework, and progress tracking. We can invite parents as guardians. You can safely use your own Google Account or your child’s. If you don’t have one, you can create a free Google Account in seconds.

All lessons are backed up by our administration system. This allows us to see if a teacher has connection problems, is running late, or does not attend.

  • Our kidsteachers are qualified DaF (German as a Foreign Language) professionals with years of experience in teaching children and adults. They teach standard German (Hochdeutsch) at all CEFR levels and understand the needs of expats and professionals. We are also experts in exam and naturalization prep for the DACH region.

  • You meet your dedicated teacher, test the online setup, and assess your level by working on a couple of communicative exercises. Together you set goals and check whether the style and pace fit you. The trial is risk-free and designed to give you real value from the very first session.

  • Kids lessons require a very different level of teaching expertise and availability.

Children need lessons almost exclusively in the afternoons and early evenings, which makes scheduling far less flexible. They also need a long-term, trusted teacher relationship, highly thoughtful lesson planning and strong presence throughout the lesson.

Holding a child’s attention online is a real skill — and not many teachers are good at it or willing to specialise in it. This significantly limits availability.

We therefore work only with experienced kids specialists and do not compromise on quality.
Our pricing reflects this expertise, the limited availability, and the level of care required to teach children well.

  • For the trial lesson, parents should:

    • attend fully, or

    • be present at the start and/or end

This helps with setup, expectations and feedback.
For regular lessons we recommend that parents may only stay in the room, if the child is not distracted.

  • When booking a trial lesson, parents fill out a short intake form and can upload materials (homework, tests, topics).
This ensures the €5 trial lesson is fully used and valuable.
